SAFE’s Strong Start spreads holiday cheer!
Written by Abigail SharpAt SAFE, we work to reduce the stressors that can impede success for families working to end the cycle of violence. Which is why the Strong Start program recently handed out over 60 Christmas trees!
On Dec. 2, SAFE Strong Start partnered with Christmas Tree Santas to provide trees, as well as all the decorations, to over 60 SAFE families. Christmas Tree Santas is a national nonprofit organization that works in seven states to give out trees and decorations, all of which was donated by Home Depot this year.
The local chapter in Austin is organized by volunteers Seth Paskin and Rebecca Kemp, who reached out to SAFE’s Strong Start program as the key local beneficiary. Seth and Rebecca were impressed with the Strong Start program, which empowers families through early childhood prevention, education, and therapeutic services. They knew they wanted Christmas Tree Santas to benefit SAFE families and the great work they are doing.
Receiving trees and all the trimmings means so much to our SAFE families — in addition to reducing the financial barriers for a family in need, it is also a way to really wrap our services around families during a very stressful time of year.
