Supporting safe relationships in Central Texas

What you can do today:

Intimate relationships matter. They help provide the connections every person needs to thrive. But when abuse enters the relationship, it’s not always clear what’s happening or what to do. As of 2021, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience domestic violence in their lifetimes. And the widespread lifestyle changes brought on by COVID-19 have increased the stress that contributes to violence and decreased the interactions that can interrupt abuse.

It doesn’t have to be this way—and we can all help make Central Texas safe for partners and families.

The Austin/Travis County Family Violence Task Force brings together local government, community organizations (including SAFE), advocates, and first responders to coordinate and amplify efforts that reduce and prevents family violence and promote safety. We invite you to join us this October and all year round by learning, preparing, and showing up for safe relationships.

  • Sept. 29. 5:30 p.m: DVAM Proclamation at Austin City Hall
  • Oct. 1 and 12. 6:30 p.m: Texas Craft Brewers Festival at Fiesta Gardens
  • Oct. 4. 5-7 p.m: National Night Out (Location TBD in 78741 zip code)
  • Oct 6, 2022. 4-8 p.m: Travis County Sheriff’s Office Do Something Campaign at the Domain Northside. (Click here to see flyer.)
  • Oct. 7-9 and 14-16. 11 a.m.-8 p.m: Austin City Limits Festival at Zilker Park
  • Oct. 10. 11 a.m.-3 p.m: St. Edward’s University Health Fair

  • Oct. 15-16: Republic of Texas Disc Golf Club Tournament  at the Met Center
  • Oct.16. 5-8 p.m: Beauty Over Bruises Fashion Hair Affair at Springdale Station
  • Oct. 17, 2022. Noon-2 p.m.: Shop in store at Kendra Scott on Lamar and 35th Street and mention the Austin Travis County Family Violence Taskforce and 20% of the proceeds will benefit the Task Force. Enter code GIVEBACK-CLIGE online Oct. 17-18. (Click here to see flyer.)
  • Oct. 20, 2022: Wear Purple to support survivors of intimate partner violence. Post a photo to social media and #DVAM2022 #Every1KnowsSome1
  • Oct. 24, 2022: Visit us Amy’s Ice Cream and Phil’s Ice House at 5624 Burnet Road. Mention the Austin Travis County Family Violence Task Force and a percentage of the proceeds will benefit the Task Force.
  • (All of October) Used cell phones can be donated around Travis County (see flyer below). Cell phones will be reset to factory settings and donated to survivors to call 911 in case of emergency. (Click here to see flyer.)
