Vice President of Community Services
Nikhita oversees the legal services and legal advocacy programs, and PlanetSafe, which offers supervised visitation and safe exchange services for families with a history of abuse or violence. Nikhita is a licensed attorney and provides direct legal representation and pro se assistance to clients over a variety of legal issues, including family law, protective orders, and immigration law. Nikhita is an active participant in Travis County committees and task forces dedicated to survivor advocacy and offender accountability.
Prior to SAFE, Nikhita worked at the Texas Council on Family Violence as a Family Violence Services Coordinator. Nikhita served a volunteer attorney for American Gateways, where she assisted clients with U visa petitions, and served as a consulting staff attorney with the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault, to advocate on behalf of inmates who were sexually assaulted while incarcerated.
Nikhita received her Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center and received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Nikhita loves spending time with her husband and two young sons, attending ACL and other live music shows, and baking cheesecakes and cookies.
